Where their a future-focussed learning community is advancing the individual potential of each child in an innovative, supportive and collaborative learning environment.
Brand-new facilities provide rich learning environments for students across all learning areas
Lee Street State School school is located in Caboolture in the Moreton Bay region. Opened in 2020, the facilities cater for the Arts, STEM, Hospitality, sensory spaces and a hall incorporating dance studios, a music therapy room, performing arts stage and indoor sports stadium.
Our brief for this build was to create rich learning environments and inviting spaces that both students and staff loved to use and be a part of.
The goal was to instill in all young people a curiosity and love for learning and to foster the individual talents of each student to allow them to reach their full potential.
The learning environment is key to achieving this and we worked closely with the School to fulfil this ethos. The use of soft furnishings to create breakout spaces for collaboration or quiet learning, while also filling the space of large scale areas.
Neutral and calm colour tones were used to match the forest green flooring
Multi-use areas and flexibility were crucial to the brief
A staff training room was a requirement for Lee Street State Special School
Inviting spaces were a must when picking the right furniture for the school
Bookcases are the perfect addition to soft furnishings to create breakout spaces
Different table and seating heights help give variety and options to the students
The use of colour was purposeful, with calm, natural tones to make the spaces feel comfortable, inviting and homely. With a multi-use facility like this, flexibility was key to designing the space and the furniture within.
