Bright and engaging learning spaces at Waterview Primary School

Aligning learning spaces with Waterview Primary School's mission to Foster, to Learn, to Nurture, to enable full potential.

Located in Central West Auckland, Waterview Primary School is a vibrant multicultural school that believes in growing together as learners.

Working closely with Sebel, Waterview Primary School was able to design the bright and engaging learning spaces they required for stage two of their rebuild.

Getting Started

Principal Brett Skeen and Sebel Account Manager Michael Hellyer have worked together across many projects over the years. Their strong working relationship made for the perfect collaboration when creating classroom environments that encourage students to do their best.

During the project, Michael and Brett worked together with ideas and inspiration from individual teachers who would be teaching in these learning environments. The teachers shared their vision and requirements that would allow them to facilitate their students as best they can.

Product Requirements

Storage solutions were an important part of the design process to allow students and teachers to have their own areas and to keep the classrooms clean and tidy.

Each learning space had their own colour scheme that teachers had selected. Michael was able to source furniture solutions that complemented the colour schemes of each classroom.

Installation

When it came to the placement of the furniture, the decision was to stagger the installation based on the product and what was available. The Whiteboard Cabinets were installed first, allowing for the rest of the product to be installed around them. The close collaboration made it easy for the team to communicate and solve any issues that arose in a timely manner.

Outcomes

The students and teachers at Waterview Primary School are elated with their bright new learning spaces. “Developing strong relationships with schools helps me understand just what the school is after”, Michael Hellyer says, “it allows me to design a space that staff and students love”.
