On the North-side of Brisbane, this school opened their newly completed building designed with additional learning spaces to accommodate roll growth.
Albany Creek State High School - creating innovative thinkers and successful learners.
The focus for additional learning spaces was on Junior and Senior classrooms, STEM labs and specialised learning areas that could be expanded out to be comfortable and engaging collaborative spaces.
The new collaborative spaces were designed with flexibility in mind. They had to accommodate a variety of classes including Science and Art as well as be used as a common area for lunch and recess.
Fun, light and bright colours were used to break up the collaborative spaces and add pops of colour.
The colour palette included a gentle green, white and grey providing a calm and nurturing space. Green and blue with textured vinyl is featured throughout the learning spaces.
The General Learning Areas had a clever mix of soft furnishings with traditional classroom furniture creating a comfortable and flexible learning environment. Use of varying heights ensures students remain engaged and can experiment with the different workspaces.
